Global Warming--Common Misconceptions Could be Leading Earth Down a Dangerous Path
Astrophysicists Dr. Hugh Ross and Dr. Jeff Zweerink are available for comment about the science behind global warming and urge caution moving forward. There are many common misconceptions circulating about this phenomenon that are inaccurate. If we move too quickly in an attempt to remedy the situation, as with the Kyoto protocol for example, we risk upsetting the delicate balance of Earth's atmosphere even further and could easily do more harm than good.

While the drastic effects of global warming has been discussed in many scientific circles, had their run on TV and even had major exposure through well-meaning (but sadly inaccurate) Hollywood films, it's a concern that has a broad political, economic, social and geographical significance to countries all over the world. Re:modern Design Receives Green Business Certification in San Mateo County's Pilot Program

Burlingame, CA (PRWEB) April 3, 2008 -- Sustainable modern design company, Re:modern (www.re-modern.com), is one of the first companies in San Mateo County to become certified as a Bay Area Green Business.

Re:modern is a design consultancy and online retailer of eco-friendly home furnishings and design gifts. The company provides 'green modern' design solutions to consumers and homeowners through innovative products and green building expertise.

In fall of 2007, Re:modern moved its headquarters to Burlingame, CA at the same time that San Mateo County began a 6-month pilot program to certify local green businesses. Now in 2008, after thorough evaluation from city and county code officials, Re:modern Design became one of the first businesses in San Mateo County to receive certification as a Bay Area Green Business.

The Bay Area Green Business Program (www.greenbiz.ca.gov) first started ten years ago in Alameda County by the Association of Bay Area Governments. Since then, the program has expanded to nine Bay Area counties. To receive green business certification, a business must comply with all environmental regulations for its industry, and then exceed them in general practice areas including Water Conservation, Solid Waste Reduction & Recycling, Energy Conservation, and Pollution Prevention.

Ever since the company's inception in 2004, Re:modern has employed good green practices such as double-sided printing, non-toxic office products, and minimizing waste through reuse and recycling.

"Being a green business involves more than just recycling," says Founder Mona Ying Reeves. Re:modern not only operates green, it also sells green products, provides green services, and partners with other environmentally-responsible organizations. "Genuinely green businesses must transform the marketplace with sustainable alternatives that enrich, rather than deplete."

The company currently offsets its carbon emissions and gives back a portion of net profits to organizations that support the environment and the arts.
