She is worried about the consequences of the rising waters concerning atolls Moruroa and Fangataufa, the two nuclear French test sites.
"I have read with much attention your speech during the days of the Grenelle of Environment. The overseas problems are more complex to resolve than in France, you rightly recognized. With regard to natural hazards, because our territories are subjected to all phenomenas, and some of them, particularly in the Pacific, will be the first to be affected by rising sea levels. You even stated that understanding of the phenomena involved is essential, because global warming and its consequences, particularly on the sea-level rise will be the direct cause of the disappearance of some islands, and the exodus of its people. These exiles of the environment will be the first direct victims of this warming. Questions arise about the future of some atolls of French Polynesia," said Unutea Hirshon.

While thanking the secretary of state of this attention towards the islands of Polynesia, it is true that they will face the full brunt of the effects of the sea-level rise. The representative Upld (Union for Democracy, Oscar Temaru), therefore, calls for the taking "in hand, as a matter of urgency" to "the future of our island people who will be displaced."
But it also alerts Christian Estrosi about "another catastrophy," left "inherited" by the state. "I refer to the atolls of Moruroa and Fangataufa that will, in addition, release their radioactive contamination in the Ocean which remains the 'pantry' of our people. In the name of the precautionary principle enshrined in the Constitution formally asks 'to the Secretary of State' to take, with the institutions and bodies concerned, all the provisions that eliminate this sword of Damocles' nuclear additional burden on the very existence of Polynesians."
